If you need to ship ahead your extra luggage or if you need a local address for an online purchase, you can have it sent to our address in Santiago and we will store it for you!
How do I get it shipped to you?
We can recommend your best options for shipping based on the location where you will be shipping from:
From Spain
1. Correos
Correos is the national post office of Spain. You will find at least one of their offices in each town you cross by. They are fast and reliable, but please be aware of their opening hours as they can be very limited in small towns.
Our recommendations with Correos
- Ship it with their rate “Paquete Estándar” and NOT “Paquete Peregrino”. The latter does not include delivery to destination, so your parcel will be held in the Correos office in Santiago and if you don’t come to collect it during the given time, they will ship it back to sender.
- Your label should look like this:
Casa Ivar
ATT: [Your name goes here]
Rua Nova 7
15705 Santiago de Compostela
A Coruña
España
2. DHL
Bigger towns may have their own DHL drop off points where you can arrange to have your luggage shipped with them. This option is pricier than shipping with the post office but they are faster and have sturdier boxes for the more delicate contents.
Our recommendations with DHL
- If you are planning on shipping valuable items (laptops, ipads, etc) we’d recommend you chose DHL as they can better protect its content with their boxes and their specialized packing.
- Make sure the delivery address is our office, and not a nearby DHL drop off point, as we won’t be able to retrieve it in your name and your items might be sent back to sender if they aren’t collected on time.
From Portugal
1. CTT
CTT is the national post office of Portugal. You will find at least one of their offices in each town you cross by. They are fast and reliable, but please be aware you may need to pay a bit extra for a tracking number.
Our recommendations with CTT
- In our experience there hasn’t been many issues with CTT and their shipments, however we always recommend to get a tracking number if possible.

Casa Ivar

From France
1. La Poste
La Poste is the national post office of France. You will find one small office in Saint Jean Pied de Port. Please be aware that the price you are paying at the office is just for shipping, not storage.
Our recommendations with La Poste
- When you ship it with La Poste, they will handle your shipment until the border with Spain. Once there, they will hand it to a different company named SEUR. Make sure you are tracking your parcel in both companies’ sites to get all the updates.
- The label should look like this:
Casa Ivar
ATT: [Your name goes here]
Rua Nova 7

Our fees
We understand that planning your Camino can be difficult as there are no ways of predicting the events that may happen along the walk. That’s why we base our prices on the size of the packages instead of the time we are keeping them. If your Camino ends up taking you more time than expected, there won’t be an extra fee waiting for you at the end.
- Letters / small envelopes : 15€
- Small to medium boxes : 25€
- Big boxes / Suitcases / Backpacks : 35€
- Bicycles : 50€
All our prices include storage for up to 90 days. We can definitely extend this period but we would require an email to let us know before hand so we can plan around this.
What happens to my package if I don’t pick it up?
In some cases, collection isn’t possible either because you had to cut your Camino short or due to unforeseeable events. In those cases, you can request that we ship your package to your home address. Depending on the destination we might ship it with FedEx or Correos. Send us an email at support@casaivar.zendesk.com and we will help you with the quote and expected time of delivery.
At the end of the year, if there are packages over 6 months old that remain unclaimed and the owners haven’t replied to our contact attempts, we will donate the contents of the parcel to local charities in Santiago.
