It has been the dryest summer so far since 1980 in Galica. One short rain shower in all of July and August has started with record heat. So, the fires start… Some of the areas in Galicia have also started to ration water supply to its inhabitants. Not sure what this will look like when September comes, but we really will need some rain soon.
The video is taken from our house just outside Santiago. The plane flies down south of Padron to get the water, then back up again to drop it on the fire. The round trip takes about 15 minutes. This time they were able to stop a fire about 3km from our house before the night came.
